BASF promotes industrial 3D-Printing on formnext, the leading trade fair for Additive Manufacturing

  • BASF 3D-Printing Solutions launches several new materials & engineering solutions for industrial 3D-Printing
  • Innofil3D BV, a company of BASF, introduces new advanced plastic filaments for 3D-Printing
  • BASF extends the network of partners to increase the number of choices for materials & 3D-P machines combinations

With establishing the new subsidiary BASF 3D-Printing Solutions, we concentrate and strengthen our ambitions to enable our customers for broader industrial use of 3D printing.

On our booth hall 3.1 – F20 during formnext, BASF invites our customers and partners to discuss on how to foster the industrialization of 3D printing. We show many examples of functional applications of our product lines and valuable engineering services.

Our subsidiary Innofil3D presents a major part of our plastic filaments activities in booth 3.1 – B66.

BASF introduces several extensions of our product portfolio, which give our customers a more versatile choice of materials for matching the specific requirements of functional applications:

Plastic filaments:

  • Carbon fiber filled polyethylene terephthalate (Innofil3D PET CF) and polyamide (Innofil3D PAHT CF) for printing strong and stiff parts.
  • Innofil3D ABS Fusion+ for engineering parts for high performance and easy printing.
  • Initial market testing of new polysulfone-based filaments.

Powder Bed Fusion:

  • 2 new polyamide 6 (PA6) powders:
    o Ultrasint PA6 FR X037 for fire resistant PA6 parts
    o Ultrasint PA6 X043 black for parts with good toughness and high competitiveness
  • TPU powder produced by BASF and soon supplied by EOS

Photopolymers:

  • Initial market testing of new Photo-Resins for SLA & DLP systems (ABS-like, PP-like, and a resin for high-temperature resistant parts)
  • Photo-Resins for Jetting are ready for qualification on specific 3D-Printers

Services:

  • Simulation of 3D-printed part properties (Ultrasim3D) & topology optimization
  • Fabricating and testing 3D-printed parts with BASF materials in comparison to other materials, and in comparison to the various 3D-printing technologies

However, it needs alignment of the materials with the engineering of the 3D-printing equipment and the processing of the materials to reliably produce plastic parts. Therefore, BASF continuously enhance its network of partners for qualifying BASF materials on equipment from various suppliers.

We are glad to announce existing and new promising 3D-P equipment partnerships for tearing in the same direction of industrializing 3D-Printing.

Plastic filaments: BigRep, Essentium, iGo3D, Ultimaker
Metal filaments: Apium Additive Technologies, EVO-tech, Hage Sondermaschinenbau, GKN Sinter Metals
