Due to further optimisation of production parameters, Innofil3D has been able to improve the tolerances of their 3D FDM printing filaments.

Our strategy is to develop and manufacture FDM filaments for industrial applications.

This latest improvement of our production process fits this strategy. We currently produce filaments with a better roundness and less diameter fluctuation and we are able to data log the actual tolerances during production.

Previous tolerances where 2,85 ± 0,10 mm and 1,75 ± 0,05 mm. For both 1,75 mm and 2,85 mm filaments we have been able to improve the diameter accuracy to appr. ± 1.5% (2,85 ± 0,05 mm; 1,75 ± 0,03 mm). This will lead to better prints.

We achieved this by both optimising crucial parts and control systems in our manufacturing equipment.

Measurement filament

Furthermore, the diameter is constantly measured with a highly accurate laser system and can be stored during production, so the quality is documented.

Our products are already fully traceable by a unique identification number on every produced reel. With the traceability of diameter tolerances we fulfill the demands of industrial customers. Raising quality standards in 3D FDM filament production becomes more and more important if you want to deliver to the industry.
